DISCONNECT/CONNECT

Autism is a neurologically-based developmental disability, characterized by repetitive patterns of behavior and difficulties with social communication and interaction.

This bewildering condition presents enormous challenges to family life.

These photographs, done with the Brooklyn Autism Center, offer a glimpse of the varying states of isolation and intimate connection felt by children with autism and the people who love them, and the family dynamic that develops around their experiences.
