The Brooklyn Public Library
“Where do the Books Go?” was developed to highlight the Brooklyn Public Library’s impact on the daily lives of hundreds of thousands of Brooklyn residents.
Intimate portraits made in the homes and communities of library users illustrate how individual experiences with this institution are woven into the fabric of Brooklyn life and culture. The subjects’ personal histories reflect contemporary issues such as immigration, unemployment, aging, the quest for a better education, and the desire to stay engaged with a rapidly changing world.
The work was presented at a solo multi-media exhibit at the Central Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library in 2011. “Where Do the Books Go?” was the subject of a Sunday feature in the New York Daily News.
